Our Mission

Who We Are
Bayou Rose was founded in 2024 by Kristen York, a trained chef who discovered that her commitment to sourcing quality ingredients persisted not just in the kitchen, but in her home as well. In an effort to move away from the toxin-laden products one finds at Target and Homegoods, and to stop patronizing corporations that removed their DEI policies, she got to work researching and sourcing organic, low-tox ingredients and materials to make luxury home fragrance more accessible and sustainable.
Our Mission
Let’s face it - in this economy, candles are a luxury. It’s a want, not a need. Sustainable luxury can come at an affordable price. We bring you the top designer scents you love, at half the price.
Sustainable also doesn’t have to mean boring. Gone are the days where “organic” and “eco friendly” come in a brown craft box. We offer beautiful, gift worthy packaging and refillable products.
Real Talk
How many empty candle jars do you have in your house right now? We know. And we feel awful throwing them in the trash or recycling. Especially after they’ve only burned for a few days. With our refillable vessels, you can endlessly reuse our jars and together, we can keep that glass out of landfills for longer. When you’re done, you can recycle. If you’re in the New Orleans area, you can even recycle with us!
Glass Half Full
For our local customers, drop your spent glassware off on our porch and we’ll recycle it through Glass Half Full - a program that recycles glass into sand for coastal regeneration, disaster recovery, and sandbags for hurricane season. As chefs, we have a deep love for our costal wetlands and the bounty they provide us. We will do everything we can to preserve them for the next generation.
Candle Culture
We believe in community over competition. Helping other candlers and small businesses is at the forefront of how we operate. It is the responsibility of the people to uphold the culture, celebrate our differences, speak out against injustice, and rejoice in our love for one another. When we’re not creating, we’re dyin’. Hopefully what we do inspires you to go back to your community and support local art and music and bring a little bit of New Orleans home with you.
